Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 9, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Plantrs ("the App") handles your information. The App works without an account of any kind. Your plants, watering history, notes and photos stay on your iPhone, and we do not operate a server that stores them.

1. No Account, No Sign-Up

The App does not require or offer a user account. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, passwords, or any personally identifiable information. The name you optionally enter during setup is used only to greet you inside the App and in your own watering reminders. It never leaves your device.

2. Data Stored on Your Device

The plants you add (including any plant you describe yourself), their planting dates, watering and care history, reminder times, journal notes and any photos you attach are stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework. By default nothing leaves your device.

3. Optional iCloud Sync (Plantrs Plus)

If you have Plantrs Plus and turn on iCloud sync in Settings, your garden is copied to your own private iCloud database using Apple's CloudKit, so it appears on your other devices and survives a lost or replaced phone. That database belongs to your Apple Account: we cannot see, read or access it, and Apple handles it under Apple's Privacy Policy. Sync is off until you turn it on, and turning it off stops syncing. To remove synced data, delete it in the App, or manage Plantrs in iOS Settings › [your name] › iCloud.

4. Widgets

Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets show a small summary (plant names and what needs water) that the App saves in a shared area on your iPhone. It never leaves your device.

5. Purchases

Plantrs Plus is an optional one-time in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple. We never receive your payment details, name or Apple Account. The App only asks Apple whether this device's Apple Account owns Plantrs Plus, so it can unlock it and restore it.

6. Camera, Photos & Plant Identification

You may choose to photograph a plant, or pick a photo from your library, to identify it or to attach it to a plant or journal note. Identification runs entirely on your iPhone using Apple's Vision framework. No photo is uploaded to us or to any third party, and we run no servers.

Photos you attach to a plant or note are downsized and stored in the App's own database on your device. Photos used only for identification are not saved. Photo selection uses Apple's PhotosPicker, which runs outside the App, so the App only receives the specific image you choose and never gains access to your wider library. Camera access is optional; declining it leaves every other feature working.

7. Notifications

With your permission, the App schedules local notifications when a plant needs water or (with Plantrs Plus) a care task is due, at the garden time or a time you choose for each plant. These are scheduled on your device by the App. They are not push notifications, no device token is collected, and no server of ours is involved. You can turn reminders off in the App's Settings or in iOS Settings at any time.

8. Analytics, Advertising & Third Parties

The App contains no third-party analytics, advertising, tracking or attribution SDKs, and it makes no network requests of its own. We do not profile you, and we do not sell or share data with anyone.

Aggregate, anonymised crash and performance statistics may be provided to us by Apple if, and only if, you have opted in to share analytics with developers in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements. This is an Apple system feature and contains no identifying information.

9. Children

The App is a general-audience gardening tool. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

10. Your Rights & Data Deletion

You own your data, and you can remove it from inside the App:

  • One plant. Open the plant, tap …, then Remove from garden. This deletes its watering history, notes and photos.
  • Everything. Settings › Delete all plants removes every plant from this device. It cannot be undone.

Deleting the App also removes all of its data from your device; data you chose to sync stays in your iCloud until you delete it there. Because we operate no server holding your data and no account exists, there is no separate deletion request to send us.

11. Future Community Features

We plan to add an optional community and plant marketplace in a later version. Those features are not part of this version. Before they launch, this policy will be updated to explain exactly what they collect, how posts are moderated, and how to delete your content.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically. Changes are effective immediately upon being posted.
